ENERGY FUNDING FOR STRUGGLING HOUSEHOLDS

Help is at hand for households struggling to pay their energy bills this winter.

The British Gas Energy Trust offers support of up to £2,000 to customers, as part of its commitment to help those struggling with bills.

The cash is available through the Energy Support Fund, exclusively for customers who have energy debts between £50 and £2,000 on a pre-payment meter, or £250 to £2,000 on a credit account.

Last year, the fund provided more than £4.2 million in grants to almost 6,000 vulnerable households across Britain.

Additional support is also available to customers of other energy suppliers through the British Gas Energy Trust’s Individuals and Families Fund (I&F).

Dumbarton MSP, Jackie Baillie, urged residents in need to apply, saying: “With winter approaching, many households may be struggling to foot the bills.

“Help is available from the British Gas Energy Trust and I urge anyone who is in energy debt to make an application.”

Households across Britain can also visit their British Gas Support Pop-Ups, where British Gas Energy Trust-funded advisors will provide an in-depth overview of the support available.

They can also signpost people to local organisations for ongoing support, check for benefits entitlements and provide free energy-saving tips and advice.
