Talented young people showed off their artistic skills recently, to take part in MSP Jackie Baillie’s Christmas card competition.
The annual event attracted entries from primary seven pupils at 19 schools throughout Dumbarton, Alexandria, Helensburgh and Lomond.
Rhu Primary pupil, Isla Mathis, scooped first place in the competition with her design featuring a stag.
Hannah McMurray, of Balloch Primary, took second place, while the third place slot went to Yasmin Byrne of Cardross Primary.
MFCG Holdings sponsored the competition, with retailer Morrisons providing gift vouchers for prize winners. Printing of the card was undertaken by Milton Press.
Winners were presented with their prizes by MSP Jackie, Scottish Labour’s Deputy Leader, during an event at Morrisons’ Dumbarton store recently.
The cards bearing the successful designs will now make their way to 4,500 individuals, dignitaries and organisations – including residents in the Dumbarton constituency aged 67 and over.
Commenting, Jackie Baillie, said: “ I always look forward to my annual Christmas card competition, which draws entries from young people throughout the constituency.
“It’s always nice to see the talent in our community and the ideas of what Christmas means to the pupils who take part.
“I would like to offer my congratulations to Isla Mathis and to the other prizewinners for their successful contributions and to those who were selected as best in their school.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Morrisons, MFCG Holdings and Milton Press for their contribution in ensuring the competition was a success.”
