Jackie Baillie was elected to represent the Dumbarton constituency in 1999. Prior to this she worked both in the public and voluntary sector most recently as a Community Economic Development Manager for a local authority.
When Jackie was in government, she served as the Deputy Minister for Communities and the Minister for Social Justice, developing groundbreaking legislation on homelessness.
She has lived and worked in Dumbarton for over 20 years and is dedicated to assisting her constituents as well as being a key figure in campaigns such as fighting to protect services at the Vale of Leven Hospital and standing up for families impacted by the C-Diff outbreak there.
Jackie also works closely with business owners across her constituency to ensure the region is flourishing and she has links with the area’s charities who assist people on a daily basis.
She is a hard-working Member of the Scottish Parliament who cares deeply for her constituents and is happy to help wherever possible.
Jackie Baillie served as Deputy Minister for Communities under then First Minister Donald Dewar, before being promoted to Social Justice Minister.
Jackie returned to the front benches as Shadow Minister for Parliamentary Business.
Jackie became Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Health, Wellbeing and Cities Strategy in 2009.
Jackie has also since taken on roles as Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Social Justice, Equalities and Welfare and spokesperson for the Economy, Jobs and Fair Work. She was also the first woman to take on the role of Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Finance.
